No instrument, is more perfect for improvising fugues, than a church organ. First you have two hands to start up the fugue. And then… it is really fun to play the fugue theme, using your feet.
Fugues are fun. The same melody is played over and over again, in different vocies and various keys.
Bach could not resist composing fugue after fugue for the organ. And as an improviser, I can’t resist improvising fugues when I sit down at the organ. Some of theese improvisations I have done can be found on YouTube. So please listen to them.
